Our Ports2Arms team lead, Perrykent Nkole, conducted interviews with representatives from the advocacy group Blind South Africa in Limpopo, Mpumalanga and Gauteng.
His goal was to find out how the COVID-19 pandemic affected the blind and those with visual impairments. Hearing from people that are underserved and ignored is one of the main goals of the Ports2Arms project, and Nkole’s interviews revealed that the pandemic was particularly difficult for this community.
He presented his findings at the Blind SA’s Annual General Assembly, which took place in Tshwane between 7 and 9 November 2023.
